The Sipadan-Mabul Resort has excellent muck diving sites right off its shores while the world famous Sipadan is only a short boat ride away. This beautiful resort is made from native Borneo materials to reflect the beauty of this tropical paradise. Guests stay at the Sipadan-Mabul Resort on a twin share basis – the resort’s 45 lovely chalets can accommodate up to 90 people at a time.
Your Sipadan Permit Allocation
This resort is alloted 12 permits a day, shared with her sister resort Mabul Water Bungalows. Based on this allocation, you can visit Sipadan Island once with certainty if you stay a minimum of 6 days 5 nights at the stand-alone chalets or suites.
This does not apply to semi-detached chalets.
If you stay at the semi-detached chalet, then the permits for Sipadan Island will be distributed based on availability and no certainty is offered for diving at Sipadan Island.
You may pre-book Sipadan permits for a fee if there are unallocated permits available. However, the pre-booked permits can only be confirmed 1 week before your arrival.
Facilities
At the Sipadan-Mabul Resort you can stay as connected to the world as you want. The resort’s business center offers high-speed Internet access as well as a telephone and fax machine. Wireless Internet can be found in the resort’s dining hall where guests gather for meals and socializing. In the evenings the dining hall is opened for dancing or for shows put on by the resort staff. The Sipadan-Mabul Resort offers two bars for guests to lounge in – one by the dining area and another overlooking the beach.
If you’re tired of the salty water take a dip in the resort’s large swimming pool or relax in the whirlpool Jacuzzi. Let your stress melt away at the Mabul Spa with a deep tissue massage or facial scrub. If you want to stay active you can join a game of beach volleyball, table tennis, or take to the ocean in a kayak.
Dive Facilities
If you’re itching to get to a few of the best muck diving sites in the world then Sipadan-Mabul Resort can help you. The resort has eleven dive boats that can carry ten divers each. Each boat goes out three times a day with a Divemaster to guide guests around the dive sites. If that’s not enough diving for you, there’s unlimited beach diving available including night dives.
The dive centre offers only the best quality gear for rent. The dive centre also offers an underwater videography course and rents digital cameras so you can capture your special dive moments to bring home. Technical diving courses are also offered so you can become certified as a Nitrox Air diver or receive a Technical International (TDI) certification during your stay.
The resort does organize trips to nearby Sipadan. However, for conservation purposes the government grants a limited number of permits to Sipadan each day. The resort brings divers to Sipadan on a rotation basis so that all guests can have a chance of visiting this world famous site. Visitors to Sipadan are allowed 2 dives on a given day.

Room Types
Sipadan-Mabul Resort offers two main types of rooms for its guests to choose from including the semi-detached chalet and the stand-alone chalet. There is also one suite at the resort which must be reserved well in advance.
All of the rooms at Sipadan-Mabul Resort have air-conditioning and a ceiling fan. All rooms also have a private bathroom with hot and cold fresh running water. The rooms are furnished with oversized single beds and all furnishings are constructed from native Borneo materials.
The resort has 3 suite rooms, 20 stand alone chalets and 18 semi-detached chalets built in neighbouring pairs. The semi-detached chalets are private and the balconies have a shared wall separating the rooms. The stand-alone chalets are similar to small houses and the front balconies overlooking the ocean are completely private. The suite is larger than the other types of rooms. It has a living room attached to the bedroom and its balcony is also completely private.
