This four star resort offers limited accommodation so it’s important to book your rooms in advance. The only resort on the island, Layang Layang Island Resort offers 76 standard rooms designed in the traditional style of Borneo’s tribal people. The rooms have an exotic and rustic design but are outfitted with all the modern amenities you require. The resort closes during the monsoon season so make sure you book your rooms between March and August.
Once your dives are done for the day, there is still plenty to do at the resort. Divers and non-divers alike can enjoy snorkelling, kayaking, and windsurfing around the island. Relax at the Raba Raba House with a full body massage or with a foot reflexology session. The resort’s restaurant can seat 150 people while serving up delicious Asian and Continental cuisine or you can just grab a quick drink in the bar lounge. Have a moment to yourself in the reading corner or share the delights of your experiences with all your friends in the conference room.
Although there is plenty to do at Layang Layang Island Resort, it is undeniable that scuba diving is the main attraction. Layang Layang’s dive sites are famous for the schools of hammerhead sharks that come through in April and May. The dive sites offer a mixture of pelagic and macro creatures and Layang Layang Island Resort can help you get in the water with ease.
The resort staff will help you load your dive gear onto one of their Catamaran boats which will whisk you off to your dive site only ten to thirty minutes from the island. Dive gear can be easily rented from the resort which has plenty of BCDs, Scuba Pro regulators, fins, masks, booties and weight belts for you to use.
